My Top 5 Magic Kingdom Attractions

Updated: Feb 26, 2020

Magic Kingdom has some of the most iconic rides in the world. There Is an attraction for everyone from thrill seekers to young children. Disney uses some for the best ride technology to make your ride experience even more special Which is why Disney lovers come back for more.

Attractions are spread over Magic Kindoms 6 lands (Adventureland, Fantasyland, Main Street USA, Tomorrowland, Frontierland and Liberty Square), each attraction sits perfectly themed within its environment. You Immediately feel transported to that place in your imagination.

With this, I have carefully considered many factors to get to conclude my top 5. How the ride imerses you, the animatronics, the thrill and story it tells.

So from all that, here is my top 5 Magic Kingdom Attractions.

5 Peter Pans Flight

Peter pans flight is a rail suspended dark ride situated within Fantasyland. As you probably guessed, the attraction is themed around the classic Disney film Peter Pan.

The ride simulates you flying over London and Neverland as you follow the story of the original film. Look down below to see Peter Pan, Wendy, John, Michael, The lost School boys and of course captain Cook and his cronies as you get a birds eye view of the action. With the original 1955 sound track and audio included, this ride has become many people's favorite Disney World Attraction due to it nostalgic feel. So much so that Peter Pans flight can have some of the biggest wait times in Magic Kingdom.

4 Haunted Mansion

Yes that's right, another dark ride in my top 5. Haunted Mansion is one of the original opening day attractions at Magic Kingdom and is located in Liberty Square. It inspired the resent hit film, starring Eddie Murphy, the aptly named Haunted Mansion. From the moment you enter the queue you are fully immersed. You feel a sense of anticipation as you edge closer to the front door of the mansion. There are many interactive things to try whilst you wait in line. Such as an animatronic bookcase where the books move in and out of the shelf. An interactive musical tomb and grave stones with querky tributes engraved on them.

The ride begins when you step into the the mind boggling but scary stretching room where you are greeted by the narrator who sends shivers down your spine as he explains the story behind the eery mansion. Once the doors open up after the narator finishes his story, step into your doom buggy as you take a trip into the dark depths of the haunted mansion. Disney say there are 999 haply haunt inside ready to greet you. You will encounter some of them in the amazing grand ball room as they dance around and feast below your feet. You will even find them sitting on top of your ride vehicle later on in the attraction!

This is one of the most fully immersive rides at Disney World and a real classic. If you love to be spooked then you will love this ride too.

3 Splash Mountain

The first of two mountains that make my top 5 list. Splash Mountain is a Log flume that possesses a terrifyingly steep 52ft drop. Situated in Frontierland, the ride is based on the 1946 animated Disney movie “song of the south” (I’m not sure either but you will definitely will recognise the infectious theme tune at the end of the ride for sure). You will splash through canyons, caves and weave your way around backwards bayous. The story is based around the adventures of br’er rabbit as he encounters a hungry fox and his clumsy bear friend. The ride includes over 100 animatronic characters, including the three mention. This ride lasts a whopping 18 minutes as it is stretched over half a mile of track. It is a great ride if you want to cool down in the middle of a hot Florida day as you are guaranteed to get soaked. Also a large part of this ride is inside the mountain which is a great escape from the heat. Obviously the main feature of the ride is that 52ft drop at the end but most of the ride is pretty tame so I would say it it ok for most people. Even my 4 year old daughter can’t get enough of it. Once you complete the drop you will be greeted by that iconic song I mentioned at the start. “Zipidy-doo-da zipidy-day”. You will struggle to get it out your head for the rest of the day! A must do attraction

2 Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

My second favourite ride at Disney is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. This is a mine train rollercoaster located in frontierland right next door to Splash Mountain. After you arrive at the legendary Big Thunder Mining Company, descend into an abandoned mine shaft and board your train. As you enter the cursed cavern, the engine speeds up along the rickety track. Dodge exploding dynamite and falling boulders as you swoop around turns, drop into canyons and dart through the mysterious ghost town of Tumbleweed.

‘Although the rollercoater itself dosent have huge drops it has some great sharp turns and speedy decents. Part of my love for this ride is that it feels like a completely new ride after dark. It almost feels like they have pushed the accelerate button. You always come off this ride wanting to do it again. That’s why I put it high up on the list.

1 Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Although this ride is not as quick as it’s sister mine train over in frontierland, this has to be the best attraction in Magic Kingdom. As mentioned in the name, Seven Drawfs is a mine train based on the iconic Snow White and the seven dwarfs animation. As you enter an old mountain you will climb to the top as you make your way down steep slopes and tight bends. The ride vehicle moves side to side as you corner, dip and dive through the track. As mentioned above, this is not the most thrilling coaster you will ride but I think Disney wanted it that way. The focus is more on the brilliant ride technology that make its feel like a smooth but exciting experience which makes this appealing for all levels of ride tolerance. Part of the magic of this ride is when you enter the mine. Without giving too much away, you will encounter the dwarfs as they get to work digging for gems. When the bell rings, the Seven Dwarfs start to sign that famous working song “High hooooooooooo as you climb up the mine shaft. This ride uses revolutionary new projection animatronics which adds to the immersive experience. The only downside is the wait times. They barely drop below 2 hours for the majority of the day which proves it popularity. I recommend securing an advanced FastPass or getting to Magic Kingdom at rope drop. Either way this is a most do attractions There you have it

That was my top 5 Magic Kingdom attractions. Magic Kingdom has so many great attractions to choose from, I would love to hear your personal top 5. Comment below or head over to my Facebook Page.
